Summer is a time for children to be out of school, have fun, and enjoy time with family and friends.
When you are planning your summer activities, it is important that you consider your household and the other parent’s household.
In order for everyone to get the most enjoyment out of the summer there are a few steps that you can take to make summer time-sharing run smoothly.
- Plan any vacations in advance to avoid conflict between household schedules.
- Communicate with the other parent and ask before finalizing plans. Once the dates have been confirmed, provide the other parent with a detailed itinerary including the children’s locations and contact information.
- Finally, if your children are spending additional time with you, they may become sad and miss the other parent. Make sure that your children are able to keep in contact with the other parent regularly. Perhaps have them send a fun post card or a letter detailing their summer fun. Send pictures to the other parent of activities so that they can ask the child about their adventures.
By planning ahead and keeping open communication, you can help to keep the summer fun.
